Entrepreneur of the Year 2000 - Worldwide Final

Brno, Czech Republic - May 3, 2001

Katerina Forstingerova, Czech Recipient of the "Entrepreneur of the Year 2000" Award, Will Participate in the Contest's First Worldwide Finals in Monte Carlo

Last year's winner of the international Entrepreneur of the Year contest's award for the Czech Republic, Katerina Forstingerova, will take part in the worldwide finals of the contest on May 17-20 in Monte Carlo. Here she will meet with the recipients of the Entrepreneur of the Year awards from over 20 countries of the world.

Ernst & Young initiated the international Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1986 in the United States, where it is the most important contest of its kind today. Late last year, Ernst & Young announced the first worldwide Entrepreneur of the Year award, and, in May of this year, for the first time, a national contest winner will receive the prestigious "World Entrepreneur of the Year" award. Other awards will also be given in various categories. A prestigious jury selected from worldwide personalities will choose the winner.

Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2000

In 1986, the program took place only in the United States. Since then, it has grown to cover 23 countries of the world. Today, Entrepreneur of the Year prizes are awarded in Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, India, Ireland, Italy, the South African Republic, Canada, the Caribbean, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the USA, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Great Britain. First annual contests for Japan and Australia are also planned for 2001. In the years to come, Ernst & Young wishes to expand the contest into even more countries of the world.

The contest's aim is not to select the most successful manager or the best banker or CEO, but rather to award those who, thanks to their efforts and abilities, can take the credit for building up and successfully developing their firms.

One of the celebrities who will appear in Monte Carlo this year is Eddie Jordan, the winner of Ireland's national competition, and a legend in Formula 1 racing. Past winners of the Entrepreneur of the Year award include Michael Dell of Dell Computer Corporation, Scott McNealy from Sun Microsystems, Larry Ellison from Oracle, and others.

The winner of the Czech Entrepreneur of the Year contest, Katerina Forstingerova, heads Moravia IT, a.s., a company that translates and localizes computer programs by international software and hardware companies. Moravia's clients include renowned international firms such as Microsoft, Oracle, Novell, Hewlett-Packard, Lotus Development Corp., Sun Microsystems, Compaq, Xerox, and others.

Moravia IT (originally Moravia Translations) was evaluated by the American computer company Compaq as its best localizer, i.e., best translator of software into foreign languages, for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in 2000. Moravia IT has localized Czech versions of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, CorelDraw, and a large amount of other software. Moravia also provides localization into 20 other world languages.
